Wow… Time Flies

Wow… Time Flies
I didn’t realize how long it had been since my last post.  We’ve had a lot going on around here and I haven’t been able to share it with you all.  Well, the in-laws were in town for 2 weeks, we celebrated Ty’s 5 week birthday and I had to do some daddy handy man stuff.  I’m one of those do it yourselfers.  I absolutely love doing little house projects, so within the past two weeks, I have installed a new ceiling fan and a new garage door opener.  Unfortunately both of these projects were out of necessity and installing a garage door opener in 105 degree Oklahoma heat...

My Love/Hate Relationship With Our Video Baby Monitor

My Love/Hate Relationship With Our Video Baby Monitor
While Lindsay was still pregnant a good friend of mine gave me some advice. He said “don’t skimp on the baby monitor”.  He let me know about how he and his wife had purchased a cheap one.  He said that all it seemed to do was make buzzing noises that were caused from cell phone interference.  So I decided I would take it upon myself to make sure that we got a good monitor.  I thought about how Lindsay would be picking out all of the colors for the room and the baby bed but the baby monitor is a guy’s purchase.  It’s kind of like buying the new flat screen tv.  I...

Three Weeks Old
So, Ty had his 3 week old birthday yesterday. We didn’t have a celebration but it’s hard not to look back at all that we’ve learned over the past three weeks. One of the things I continue to realize is that we’re all learning together. So let’s recap some of the lessons from the past three weeks. Changing little boys diapers without getting soaked can be a challenging task.  I don’t care how many times I heard it before he was born.  ”You better be prepared so you don’t get sprayed when you change his diaper”. I always think I will be fast...

Welcome to the World, Ty!

Welcome to the World, Ty!
One Long Day After one of the longest days of my life, I finally got to meet my son.  Lindsay  and I arrived at the hospital at 7:30 am in the morning.  We were both excited and a little nervous, not knowing what the day would  bring.  After settling into our delivery room around 8:00am they began to induce labor.  I tried to get comfortable and relax but the anticipation was overwhelming.  Lindsay was at ease for most of the day, the contractions didn’t really get painful until almost 1:00pm and by 3:00pm she had gotten her epidural.  That’s the good news, the bad news is that...

Let’s start at the beginning

Let’s start at the beginning
The beginning … Lindsay and I were married on September 11th, 2004.  I know what you’re thinking, “why September 11th”?  Well at the time Lindsay’s dad was working for the Post Office and the only Saturday he was able to get off in the fall was… September 11th.  Now for the good news, I have a reminder each year for my anniversary.  So we’ve been married for almost 7 years now.  The years go by so fast and each day is a gift.  We’ve had our fair share of life lessons along the way but we’ve always been able to get through each of life’s...
